| Blind | a sum of money given by one or two players to the pot before any card is dealt. This forced bet moves in clockwise direction between the players. |
| Call | putting in the pot the same amount of chips as the previous player. |
| Check | possible only before the first bet is made, actually means wagering nothing - consequently passing the first bet to the next player. |
| Fold | quitting the hand. This means the player looses any money he had wagered on up to that moment. |
| Pot | place where all the betting chips are put. What is in the pot goes to the winner at the end of the game. |
| Raise | placing a higher bet then the one placed before you. In different kinds of games there are different limits to the raising. |
| Rank | a value of a certain card or hand. |
| Showdown | when betting rounds are over and all remaining players show their cards in order to see who is the winner. |
| Suit | the 52-card deck consists of 4 different kinds of cards. Hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades. Each of these is a suit. |
| Toking | tipping. The money given to the dealer by the player that wins the pot. |
